Aidan and I just finished two weeks of swim lessons at the Oak Point Center in East Plano. We enjoyed seeing Kali and Mary Scheschuk every day for 30 minutes.  Actually a little less, since I never made it on time.  Shocking, I know.  This seems to be a Hsiao family trait that Loren calls “Chinese people time.” But wait, then what’s my excuse?

Kali and I agreed that Aidan and Mary both seemed to have progressed in their comfort with the water. They are by no means swimming in the technical sense, but they can go under water and not freak out. They can kick their legs while floating on their tummy or back (with us holding them, of course).

I would definitely recommend classes like this for babies! They offer this Waterbabies class for ages 6 months to 3 years old, but I’m not sure how much babies would get out of swim lessons at 6 months old.  Aidan and Mary were almost too young for these classes at 11 months old. I also would not suggest doing them EVERY DAY in the middle of the day like we did.  A couple of times a week would have been much better!

Here are some cute pictures of their last day of swim lessons.
